LAST GAME: ORAL ROBERTS ON MARK TO DEFEAT LADIES

Oral Roberts shot 50.7 percent to earn a 29-point win over Centenary Monday.

In the win, the Golden Eagles were led by a combined 42 points by forwards Elisha Turek and Jenny Hardin.

Turek led all players with her conference-leading 11th double-double of the season, adding 10 rebounds and hitting 10-of-15 shots from the floor.

Hardin hit 9-of-15 shots and scored 20 points with seven rebounds and three assists.

Centenary trailed by 18 points at the half and was unable to make up the large deficit early in the second half.

Leading scorer Holli Wilkins was hindered by foul trouble the entire evening, finishing with just two points in the loss.

Centenary was led in scoring by freshman Bethany Joseph and sophomore Cierra Bush, both finishing with 16 points.

WILKINS NEARING MARK

Senior guard Holli Wilkins is edging ever closer to the 1,000-point mark for her collegiate career.

With 995 points in her four seasons, Wilkins is within five points to reaching the mark, becoming only the third Centenary player to score 1,000 points for their careers.

Previously, only Alexis Pettway and Julie Danieles have over 1,000 points with the Ladies, more than likely joined by Wilkins.

This season, Wilkins is averaging 11.8 ppg. to lead the Ladies.

JOSEPH ONE OFF OF CAREER HIGH

Freshman guard Bethany Joseph hit 6-of-10 shots in Monday’s loss to Oral Roberts, scoring 16 points to lead the Ladies in scoring.

The 16 points by Joseph is one off of her career high 17 points scored against Nicholls State Nov. 18.

Joseph hit 50 percent of her three-point attempts in Monday’s game.

WILKINS MOVES INTO SECOND

Senior guard Holli Wilkins moved into second place in Centenary history in career assists with her seven assists against Oral Roberts Monday.

Registering 246 assists in her collegiate career, Wilkins passed Julie Danieles (242) to move into second in career assists.

This season, the senior guard 3.16 assists per game, leading the Ladies in assists.

BUSH MOVES INTO NINTH IN SCORING

Sophomore guard Cierra Bush moved into ninth in Centenary history in career scoring, going for 16 points against Oral Roberts Monday.

Bush has 406 points in her collegiate career to pass Carly Melvin (398) for ninth in Centenary history in career points.

Bush is averaging 10.9 ppg. to stand second on the Ladies in scoring this season.

SENIORS GO OUT ON TOP

Playing their final game at the Gold Dome, seniors Jelena Aleksic, Tracee Byrd and Holli Wilkins went out with a win, defeating Southern Utah, 72-67, Feb. 12.

Wilkins, leading the Ladies in scoring with a 12.2 ppg. average, scored 16 points in her final home game to lead the team in scoring. Playing all but one minute against the Thunderbirds, Wilkins added six rebounds, five assists and four steals.

In addition to Wilkins play, fellow-senior Jelena Aleksic had 12 points in her final home game, grabbing six rebounds. Sophomore Cierra Bush had 12 points for the Ladies.

Fittingly, the first and last basket made by Centenary was made by a senior, with Aleksic making the first basket of the game for the Ladies and Wilkins cleaning up with the final Centenary basket.

The win ended an 11-game losing streak for the Ladies.

THREE AT THE TOP

Centenary remains the only team in the Mid-Continent Conference to have three players amongst the top 10 in scoring in the conference.

In overall games, senior guard Holli Wilkins leads the Ladies with a 11.8 ppg. scoring average, standing seventh in the conference in scoring.

Sophomore Cierra Bush stands eighth in the conference in scoring with a 10.9 ppg. average.

Leading the Ladies in field-goal percentage (.428), senior Jelena Aleksic is 10th in the Mid-Con in scoring with a 10.6 ppg. average.

As a team, Centenary is averaging 56.9 ppg., standing fifth in the Mid-Con in team scoring.

HALFTIME LEADS TO WIN

Leading 33-30 at the half against Southern Utah Feb. 12, Centenary remains undefeated this season when leading at the break.

The Ladies are 5-0 this season when ahead at the intermission, leading at halftime just five times this season.

Unfortunately for the Ladies, Centenary has yet to overcome a halftime deficit in the second half.

HITTING 70

When scoring 70 points this season, Centenary has a 5-1 record this season.

Falling only to Louisiana-Monroe, 74-71, Nov. 30 when hitting 70 points, the trend continued for the Ladies Feb. 12 against Southern Utah.

Against the Thunderbirds, Centenary scored 72 points to earn the victory.

STREAK SNAPPED

Centenary snapped its losing streak in Mid-Continent Conference play at 17 games.

Dating back to last season, the Ladies failed to win a conference game this season in its first 10 tries.

WILKINS SECOND IN MID-CON FROM CHARITY STRIPE

Senior Holli Wilkins stands as the Ladies best free-throw shooter this season, hitting 79.6 percent of her shots from the charity stripe.

Wilkins stands second in the conference in free-throw percentage, with Jessica Pike of Oakland leading the Mid-Con from the free-throw line (.825 FT%).

WILKINS MOVES INTO FOURTH

Senior guard Holli Wilkins grabbed five rebounds to move into No. 4 in Centenary history in career rebounds. Wilkins currently stands with 348 career rebounds.

ON THE ROAD VS. IUPUI

In the lifetime series against IUPUI, the Ladies are 0-3 on the road against the Jaguars.

In the three previous meetings at IUPUI Gymnasium, the Ladies have fell by an average of 20.7 points per game. Centenary dropped last season’s encounter with the Jaguars, 68-41, played Jan. 23, 2006.

BUSH STANDS SECOND

Notching a new career-high for points this season, Centenary sophomore guard Cierra Bush stands tied for second in the Mid-Con in 20-plus point games. With five games this season of 20 or more points this season, Bush is right behind 2006-07 Preseason Mid-Con Player of the Year, Elisha Turek of Oral Roberts.

This season, Bush is amongst the top scorers in the Mid-Con, standing in the conference top 10 in scoring, averaging 10.9 ppg. Bush leads the Ladies in rebounding this season, averaging 6.0 boards per game.

WILKINS BECOMES LEADER

Recording a game-high five steals against McNeese State Dec. 30, senior guard Holli Wilkins became the all-time steals leader in Centenary history, passing former Ladies guard Julie Danieles for the top spot.

Wilkins remains amongst the steal leaders in the conference, averaging 2.3 spg. this season and standing third in the Mid-Con. The senior guard broke the single-season steals record in Ladies history in her junior year, registering 82 steals to finish eighth nationally.

Wilkins has an opportunity to lead the conference in steals for the second consecutive season.

LADIES SNAP STREAK

In the 84-70 win over Sam Houston State, Centenary ended its road losing streak stretching over five seasons.

Not earning a road win since the 2002-03 season, the Ladies’ road losing streak spanned 55 games. Prior to the win over Sam Houston State Dec. 17, Centenary last defeated an opponent on the road Dec. 7, 2002, winning over St. Francis (NY) College.
