Tyrone Hamilton

ELMHURST, Ill.—The Mid-Continent Conference has announced that Centenary’s Alexander Starr and Tyrone Hamilton have been named to the All-Conference men’s basketball teams. Starr was named to the first team after a stellar senior season while Hamilton made the second team as a sophomore.

Starr (Dallas, Texas) finished the Mid-Con regular season as the league’s second leading scorer at 17.1 ppg and also placed in the top five in rebounding. The 6’5” guard/forward combo stepped up his scoring production in his final year in a Centenary uniform and scored 20 or more points in his final five games. He also leads the Gents in three-point field goal percentage, free throws made and attempted, free throw percentage, offensive and defensive rebounds, and total rebounds. In addition, the well-rounded player placed second on the team in assists and steals.

Hamilton (Shreveport, La.) earned a spot on the All-Mid-Con second team after also being named to the preseason conference second team. Only a sophomore, Hamilton finished third in the Mid-Con in scoring at 16.4 ppg. Running the Gents offense from the point guard position, the southpaw led the team in assists, field goals made and attempted, three-pointers made, and ranked second in free throw percentage.

Both Starr and Hamilton look to lead the Gents to their first-ever Mid-Con Tournament victory when eighth-seeded Centenary opens tournament play against the top-seeded Oral Roberts Golden Eagles on Saturday at 6 p.m.
