SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Centenary men’s golf team travels to Jackson, Tenn. for the 2007 Grover Page Classic, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Martin. The two day, three-round tournament is set to begin Monday, with a practice round scheduled Sunday.

Played at the Jackson Country Club (par 72), the Gents will be joined by 16 teams, all vying for the tournament crown.

The teams competing in and joining Centenary in this week’s event include: Central Arkansas, Chicago State, Cincinnati, Kentucky Wesleyan, Lewis University, Lipscomb, Loyola (IL), Morehead State, Murray State, North Alabama, Southern Illinois, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Union University, along with the tournament hosts Tennessee-Martin.

All competitors are set to play 36 holes Monday, wrapping up with 18 holes in the final round Tuesday.

Leading the Gents into this week’s tournament is reigning Mid-Continent Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week David Viviano (Lafayette, La.). Finishing in a tie for 21st place at last week’s BSC Spring Shootout, Viviano leads the Gents with a 77.3 stroke average this season. In 13 rounds this year, the senior has two rounds under par, with a season-best round of 68.

Right on the heels of Viviano, freshman Mark Weeber (Harare, Zimbabwe) is averaging 77.7 strokes per round, with a career-best round of 73. Weeber led Centenary through two rounds last week, finishing in a tie for 29th at the BSC Spring Shootout.

In a comparable field size to this week’s Grover Page Classic, Centenary has a season-best finish of eighth, accomplished last week in Birmingham, Ala.

Rounds are set to begin Monday morning.
