Ladies Narrowly Miss Win over LeTourneau

KILGORE, Texas—The Centenary women’s tennis team played its second and third matches in a two-day stretch on Monday when it traveled to Kilgore, Texas, to face LeTourneau University and Lindenwood University. The Ladies lost a tough match to LeTourneau 4-3 before falling to Lindenwood 6-0.

 

Christine Majchrowicz shined for Centenary in the opening match against LeTourneau, picking up both a singles and a doubles win. The senior defeated Sarah Carroll in the #1 slot 6-0, 6-0 before teaming with Courtney Myers to beat Jessica Tindall and Jackie Simmons 8-1.

 

Lindsay Ezell and Myers also picked up singles wins in the team loss. Ezell outlasted Briana Olivo 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 while Myers racked up her second win of the day in a 6-2, 7-6 victory over Simmons.

 

In the second match of the day both Christine and Jennifer Majchrowicz battled through three-set matches only to come up short in the end. Christine looked to notch her third win on the afternoon but fell to Luisa Macias of Lindenwood by the score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Jennifer won her first set over Livia Ruas only to see her opponent battle back for the 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 victory.

 

No doubles matches were played in the final match against Lindenwood.
