SHREVEPORT—Centenary softball coach Mark Montgomery has announced that changes have been made to the Ladies series schedule with UMKC for this weekend. Due to the threat of poor weather conditions on Saturday, the two teams will now play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. and a single game on Saturday at 11 a.m. The original schedule called for the doubleheader to be played on Saturday.

Centenary (15-15, 0-0 Mid-Con) heads into its Mid-Continent Conference opener on a two-game win streak after disposing of Grambling State 13-0 and Stephen F. Austin 4-3 earlier this week. Emerald Doria continues to lead the Ladies with a .359 batting average and 21 runs scored. Micah Rhodes is batting .301 on the season while leading the team with 16 RBI.

UMKC (2-26, 0-3 Mid-Con) has lost its last three games to North Texas and Texas-Arlington respectively. The Kangaroos opened Mid-Con play last weekend, dropping all three games to Valparaiso. Ashley Toft leads a struggling UMKC offense that is batting .205 as a team. Toft is hitting .321 with six homeruns and 14 RBI.

The Ladies and the Kangaroos met once already this season in a rare non-conference game. The clubs went head-to-head in the Worth Invitational hosted by the University of Oklahoma and Centenary easily prevailed 12-1 in a mercy rule shortened affair.
