Allison McClain

ELMHURST, Ill.—Centenary softball player Allison McClain has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week for her efforts in leading the Ladies to a perfect 5-0 record last week. The honor is the first for a Centenary position player this season.

McClain (Diboll, Texas) hit an amazing .769 for the week, going 10-for-13 at the plate. The sophomore scored at least one run in all five wins (six total) and drove in six runs. She also stole four bases and had an on-base percentage of .812 (includes a walk and a hit-by-pitch). She is currently riding a streak in which she has reached base in eight straight at-bats.

McClain scored the tying run in the Ladies’ come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Stephen F. Austin and drove in the game-winner in the series finale against UMKC.

Centenary (18-15, 3-0 Mid-Con) sits in a first place tie with Western Illinois atop the Mid-Con standings. The Ladies travel to face Louisiana Tech at 6 p.m. on Wednesday before returning to league play on Friday and Saturday at IUPUI.
