BATON ROUGE—The Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) announced on Tuesday that Centenary’s Allison McClain and Kelsey Greeson have been named Louisiana Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively. The award is the second of the week for McClain who was also selected as the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week.


Greeson (Temple, Texas) was 2-0 with wins over Grambling State and UMKC and also picked up a pair of saves in leading the Ladies to a 5-0 week. The freshman shutout Grambling and allowed only one run in seven innings on three hits and seven strikeouts to UMKC. She also tallied saves against Stephen F. Austin and UMKC.


McClain (Diboll, Texas) hit .769 at the plate, recording 10 hits in 13 at-bats with six RBI. The sophomore scored at least one run in all five of Centenary’s wins while stealing four bases, slugging .846 with an on-base percentage of .812. In three of the five games she was perfect at the plate, including a 4-for-4 effort with a double, two RBI, and a run scored in the second game against UMKC.


Greeson and McClain are the first Centenary players to receive LSWA honors this season.
