Kaage became the second Gent pitcher
to earn weekly honors this season

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary senior Will Kaage was named Mid-Continent Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the Mid-Con office Monday.

The Burlington, Wash., native had one of his best outings of the 2007 season in Saturday’s 9-0 win over Chicago State.

Earning a complete-game, shutout victory, Kaage allowed just one hit to Chicago State in the win. The senior right-hander needed just 70 pitches to pick up the win, his second of the season.

He struck out four batters, with zero walks, over seven innings Saturday.

Kaage’s performance against Chicago State allowed the Gents to salvage a split in Saturday’s doubleheader, as Centenary dropped the first game by a score of 7-0.

This season, Kaage has a 2-3 record in eight starts, nine appearances, standing with a 6.25 ERA. He became the second Centenary pitcher to earn Mid-Con Pitcher of the Week honors this season, joining junior Jeremy Sheehan (Bonner Springs, Kan.).

Kaage and the Gents host Texas College Tuesday at Shehee Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. Centenary opens up conference play Friday, traveling to Valparaiso for a four-game series.
