ROCHESTER, Mich.—The Centenary softball team did not get its desired result in a big Mid-Continent Conference series this weekend against Oakland. The Golden Grizzlies completed a three-game sweep of the Ladies with a pair of wins on Saturday 4-2 and 8-0.

Centenary (19-24, 4-5 Mid-Con) fell behind in game one when Oakland erupted for a three-run second inning on a single swing of the bat. With two outs and a runner on, pitcher Stacy Whitmer (7-8) hit Audrey Sabourin and Julie Owen followed with a three-run homerun. Whitmer would not allow another run in her four innings of work, but the blast by Owen would be enough for the win.

The Ladies scored a single run in the top of the third when Lauren Flowers singled home Allison McClain and then added another run in the sixth on a Micah Rhodes RBI single that plated Allison Shepperd.

Oakland (12-22, 6-3 Mid-Con) used nine hits in a run-rule shortened second game to easily finish off a deflated Centenary team. The Grizzlies scored once in the first inning, three times in the second, and four in the third for pitcher Jessica Granger (11-10), who took the win in all three games this weekend.

For the Ladies on the day, Flowers, Shepperd, and Rhodes each collected multiple hits. Rhodes went 3-for-5 from the plate.
