Sheehan earned his sixth win
to earn Pitcher of the Week honors

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary junior Jeremy Sheehan was named Mid-Continent Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday.

Sheehan, a right-hander from Bonner Springs, Kan., picked up his sixth win of the season Saturday at Western Illinois, becoming only the second pitcher in the conference to earn multiple honors this season. Previously, the junior had been named pitcher of the week after his victory over Kansas State Feb. 18.

In leading Centenary to a 5-0 shutout win over Western Illinois, Sheehan struck out six while walking two, allowing six hits over seven innings of work. Combining with freshman Dakota Robinson (Bossier City) for the shutout, Sheehan lowered his ERA to 3.95, standing with a 6-4 record in 11 starts.

The Centenary junior shares this week’s honors with Jeremy Hefner of Oral Roberts. He and senior Will Kaage (Burlington, Wash.) are the two Centenary pitchers who have been honored by the Mid-Con this season.

Centenary, sitting fifth in the conference with a 3-5 record in Mid-Con games, begins a four-game series against Southern Utah at Shehee Stadium Friday. Game 1 of the series is set for 6 p.m. Friday, with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. and a single game Sunday at noon.
