Ryan Thacker

ELMHURST, Ill.—Centenary softball pitcher Ryan Thacker was tabbed by the Mid-Continent Conference as its Pitcher of the Week for her efforts in leading the Ladies to a 3-1 record over the previous seven days. It is the second time this year that Thacker has received the accolade.

Thacker (Alto, Texas) notched two wins and her first collegiate save, playing an important role in Centenary’s wins over Louisiana-Monroe (6-3) and Valparaiso (6-5 and 7-1). Against ULM, the freshman pitched 1.1 innings in relief, allowing only one hit while striking out two. She picked up the win when the Ladies scored two runs in the sixth inning to come-from-behind for the victory.

Thacker earned the first save of her career when she entered a 6-5 game against Valparaiso in the seventh inning. The bases were loaded with two outs and the right-hander picked up the crucial out on one pitch to end the game. She then tossed six innings against Valpo in a start, during which she surrendered only six hits and a single run while striking out five.

For the week, Thacker had an earned run average of 0.84 in 8.1 innings. She struck out eight batters, allowed eight hits, and walked only two.
