Webb stands as the national leader
in walks this season

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary senior outfielder Matt Webb can add another record to his baseball resume, breaking the conference mark for walks in a single season Sunday.

With his walk in the fifth inning against Southern Utah Sunday, Webb registered his 59th walk of the 2007 season, breaking the Mid-Continent Conference mark for walks previously set by Danny Boyle of Oral Roberts in the 2002 season.

Webb, a native of Blue Springs, Mo., currently leads the nation in walks, averaging 1.26 walks per game. With one more walk, Webb will move into a tie for 20th in career walks in the Mid-Con, already amassing 89 in two seasons with the Gents.

In addition to leading the conference in walks this season, Webb stands as the Mid-Con leader in on-base percentage (.540) and stolen bases (22). He is batting .317 with 20 RBI in 47 games for Centenary in 2007.

Webb and the Gents travel to Tulsa, Okla. to face conference-leading Oral Roberts in a four-game series starting Friday. Centenary currently stands third in the Mid-Con standings.
