SHREVEPORT -- Centenary women’s basketball adds another name to its recruiting class for the 2007-08 season, signing Karolina Zaloga to a National Letter of Intent.

Zaloga, a 5-foot-9 guard, becomes the third member of Centenary head coach Steve Curtis’ recruiting class for next season. Playing the past season at Mineral Area College, in Park Hills, Mo., Zaloga was named to the NJCAA Region 16 All-Region Team following the 2006-07 season. She also earned first team All-Midwest Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) accolades for the Cardinals this past season.

Adding a high-caliber guard to the Ladies for next season, Curtis says Zaloga has a history of success at the junior college level, being named all-conference both of her seasons at the JUCO level.

"We are very excited Karolina has decided to join our program," Curtis said. "She is an outstanding passer, who can make plays off the dribble as well as shoot from deep. She is a great addition to our team."

En route to earning all-region and all-conference honors this season, Zaloga averaged 13.2 points, 4.50 rebounds, 5.34 assists and 1.9 steals per game for the Cardinals. She shot 30.3 percent from three-point range, hitting 77.6 percent of her free-throw attempts.

Mineral Area head coach Gary Koch has nothing to say but good things about Zaloga and her abilities to excel with the Ladies.

"You will not find a better person or harder worker than Karolina," Koch said. "She’s a good player and excellent student and we’ll truly miss her."

In her freshman season, Zaloga played at Jefferson College, also a member of the MCCAC. With the Vikings, she averaged 9.35 points, 3.55 rebounds, 4.22 assists and 1.26 steals per game. She earned honorable mention All-MCCAC in her freshman year at Jefferson.

Zaloga joins Ashley Jackson (5-10/F/Shreveport, La./Loyola College Prep) and Anne Farrell (6-2/F/Tulsa, Okla./Bishop Kelley) in the 2007-08 recruiting class.
