SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary freshman Dakota Robinson has been named Mid-Continent Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday.

A local product from nearby Bossier City, Robinson made three relief appearances against Oakland over the weekend, helping the Gents win 3-of-4 games and earn a berth in the 2007 Mid-Con Baseball Tournament.

Robinson was outstanding in his three appearances, earning two saves and tying for the team lead with 7 1/3 innings pitched over the series.

He finished the weekend with a 0.00 ERA, allowing just one unearned run and five hits. Robinson faced 28 batters in the three games, allowing just four Oakland hitters to reach second base.

He limited the No. 1 offensive team in the conference to a team-low .200 batting average.

Robinson finished conference play with a 0.69 ERA over 26 innings pitched, allowing just two earned runs. He struck out 14 batters in Mid-Con play, walking just two.

This season, the freshman leads the Mid-Con with 28 appearances, all in relief. He has three saves in his rookie season.

Monday marked the fourth time this season a Centenary pitcher has been named Mid-Con Pitcher of the Week, standing second in the conference in weekly pitching honorees. Previously, Centenary senior Will Kaage and junior Jeremy Sheehan have been named conference pitcher of the week, with Sheehan earning the award twice this season.

The Gents play in the Mid-Con Baseball Championships this week, beginning tournament play Thursday against Oral Roberts at 11 a.m. All tournament games will be played at Boyer Stadium, on the campus of Western Illinois, in Macomb, Ill.
