SHREVEPORT—Centenary head men’s basketball coach Rob Flaska has announced that the Gents will host cross-town NAIA national power LSU-Shreveport in an exhibition to kick off the 2007-08 season. The game will be played on November 6th in the Gold Dome beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“This game is great for the city of Shreveport,” said Flaska. “It will build excitement and help us get ready for the season. LSUS is one of the top NAIA teams in the country. It is a big risk for us, but I have a lot of respect for coach Chad McDowell and what he has accomplished over there.”

According to Centenary archives, the last and only time the Pilots and Gents faced each other was in the fall of 1993 in the Gold Dome. Centenary emerged from that contest with a 75-60 win.

Flaska has made it a point of emphasis to renew rivalries in his two years at the helm of the Gents program. In addition to the exhibition with LSUS, he revived a dormant series with Louisiana Tech this last season, added former Trans America Athletic Conference foe Arkansas-Little Rock back on the schedule, and continues to play regional rival Northwestern State annually.
