SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary and its women’s swimming team announce the signing of Ruth Litwinowicz to a National Letter of Intent for the 2007-08 season.

A native of Houston, Litwinowicz graduated from Kingwood High School, intending to major in biology at Centenary.

Litwinowicz specialized in the 100 backstroke, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle in high school and with her club team, the Blue Tide. According to Centenary head coach Butch Jordan, she will bring a great attitude to the Ladies’ program.

"We expect Ruth to be a contributor in our sprint, freestyle and backstroke events," Jordan said. "She has a solid stroke technique and will continue to improve throughout her first collegiate season."

Litwinowicz was a member of the National Honor Society and was named a Scholastic All-American.

She joins Natalie Holcomb and Lauren Kloepfer, who both signed with the Ladies in the Fall.
