SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary’s junior infielder Cameron Penney and senior pitcher Brandon Fulenchek were both honored by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, both named to the 2007 LSWA All-Louisiana College Baseball Team.

Voted on by panel of LSWA members, Penney was named second team All-LSWA as a utility player, while Fulenchek earned honorable mention All-LSWA.

In his first season with the Gents, Penney led Centenary with a .312 batting average and 68 hits.

Playing in all 59 games in 2007, Penney started at three positions throughout the year, seeing majority of his time at first base.

The Valley Center, Calif., native finished the year amongst the national leaders in strikeout ratio, striking out just 15 times in 218 at-bats (14.5) and standing 35th nationally in strikeout ratio. With 80 total bases and a .388 on-base percentage, Penney registered 34 RBI and 38 runs scored this past season.

Penney was named to the 2007 Mid-Continent Conference All-Tournament Team to conclude the season, helping the Gents to the conference championship game for the second time in the past three seasons. He hit .438 in four games in the conference tournament with a team-high seven hits.

A first team All-Mid-Con performer in his senior season, Fulenchek had a career year in his final collegiate season.

Serving as the No. 1 starter of the Gent staff, Fulenchek had a career high eight wins, leading the Mid-Con with 103.1 innings pitched and 16 starts. A native of McKinney, Texas, Fulenchek had a 3.48 ERA to lead all Centenary starting pitchers, going 8-5 and limiting opponents to a .295 batting average in his 17 appearances.

The senior left-hander was amongst the Mid-Con leaders with a team-leading 56 strikeouts.

This Spring, Fulenchek graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in finance and business economics.

Louisiana-Lafayette and LSU earned majority of the individual awards handed out by the LSWA.
