David Viviano shot a season-best
4-under 68 at StoneBridge in the Fall

SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Centenary men’s golf team hosts Southern Utah in a match at the Golf Club at StoneBridge Thursday.

Replacing the cancelled Sam Houston State Bearkat Classic, the Gents and the Thunderbirds tackle the par 72 course in Bossier City Thursday morning.

Already playing a tournament at StoneBridge this season, the Gents will be led in this week’s match by senior David Viviano (Lafayette, La.). At the Centenary Fall Classic, played Sept. 9-10 in Bossier City, Viviano shot his season-best round of 4-under 68 to earn seventh place. This season, the senior is leading the Gents with a 77.5 scoring average.

Freshman Mark Weeber (Harare, Zimbabwe) is right behind Viviano with a 77.6 stroke average. In last week’s Grover Page Classic, the freshman shot his season-best round of 71, registered in the final round of the tournament. He shot 73-79 at StoneBridge in the Fall.

Sophomore John Hogan (Eden Praire, Minn.) and freshman Tyler Williams (Shreveport) are averaging 79.2 and 79.8 strokes per round, respectively, while freshman Nick Faitz (North Little Rock, Ark.) is averaging 80.7 stokes per round.

Williams is coming off the best finish of his collegiate career, finishing tied for 15th at last week’s Grover Page Classic, shooting a season-best 73 in the final round.

As a team, Centenary shot its season-best team round in the final round last week with a 298.

This week, both teams will get a preview of the StoneBridge course that will host the Mid-Continent Conference Championships in April.
