SHREVEPORT—The Centenary softball team welcomes the tenth-ranked LSU Tigers to Shreveport on Wednesday for a single game beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex. The meeting between the Ladies and the Lady Tigers is the second of the season between the clubs as LSU took the first battle 9-0 in Baton Rouge.

Centenary (13-14) will be playing its fifth top 25 team this season when the Tigers come to town and its fourth opponent inside the top 10. All four of the Ladies games last week were cancelled due to inclement weather. Centenary had won five of six games over a recent stretch before losing three games in the Worth Invitational, including a pair of contests to #5 Oklahoma.

The Ladies are led by the hitting duo of Emerald Doria and Micah Rhodes, both former Mid-Continent Conference Newcomers of the Year. Doria currently leads the team with a .373 batting average, 28 hits, and 20 runs while Rhodes has recovered from a slow start to raise her average to .315 with a team-best 15 RBI.

LSU (28-4) enters Wednesday’s match-up fresh off of a three-game sweep of Florida in SEC play. Leslie Klein was tabbed the conference Player of the Week as she carries a lofty .443 batting average through 32 games. The Tigers are hitting an impressive .338 as a team and have launched 27 homeruns compared to just 10 for their opponents.

Dani Hofer and Emily Turner have combined for a 21-4 mark in the pitcher’s circle for LSU while sporting miniscule ERA’s of 1.20 and 1.23 respectively. Tiffany Garcia (5-0, 0.64 ERA) earned the win over the Ladies in the first meeting between the two squads, tossing five shutout innings.

LSU holds the 12-0 advantage in the all-time series against Centenary. The last time the two clubs met in Shreveport, the Tigers won 4-0 on March 17, 2004.
