SHREVEPORT - The Centenary Athletics Department and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) recently held its annual All-Sports Banquet, which featured all 16 varsity sports. Coaches discussed their team's successes and highlighted individual accomplishments. In addition, junior Julia Cornelius from gymnastics and senior Ross Gilbert from swimming were awarded the Centenary Athletics Outstanding Achievement Award.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team finished its season yesterday, but six Ladies advanced to the individual event finals at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships on Saturday. Sophomore Courtney Hawkins emerged as the Floor Exercise National Champion, while senior Meredith Smith narrowly missed collecting the second title of her career.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team finished strong on Thursday night to qualify for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship Team Finals, but the Ladies would be unable to duplicate the effort again on Friday. Texas Woman's University (194.700) took the crown for the ninth time overall, while a determined Cornell (193.675) squad finished second. Towson (193.100) placed third and Centenary (192.925) landed in fourth place.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team got off to a rocky start, but battled back to grab second place in the second session of the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships on Thursday evening in the Gold Dome. The Ladies used an exceptional score of 49.100 on the floor exercise to advance to the team finals with a 192.400.

SHREVEPORT - Centenary College and USA Gymnastics are proud to host the 2008 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships this week in the Gold Dome on Centenary's campus. BATON ROUGE--Centenary freshman gymnast Laura Loy scored a 9.275 on the balance beam in her first appearance in an NCAA Regional on Saturday. She placed 37th overall, while being only the third gymnast in program history to advance to a regional. Teammates Marisa Schneider and Meredith Smith were also on hand as alternates, but did not compete.

BATON ROUGE - The Centenary gymnastics team will have three members of its squad traveling to the NCAA Regional hosted by LSU on Saturday. Freshman Laura Loy qualified as an individual to compete in the event, while teammates Marisa Schneider and Meredith Smith will serve as alternates.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team came up big while hosting the Midwest Independent Championships in the Gold Dome on Friday, finishing third out of a tough field. The Ladies posted a team score of 191.775, while Illinois-Chicago took first place with an effort of 193.850.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team returns to action Friday in the Gold Dome when it hosts the Midwest Independent Championships beginning at 6 p.m. Other teams competing in the event include Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, Southeast Missouri State, and Texas Woman's University.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team made some last minute changes to accommodate an injury in warm-ups on Sunday, but still managed to score well. The Ladies recorded a 192.275, but fell short against the Kentucky Wildcats of the SEC, who scored a 195.975 in the Gold Dome.

DENTON, Texas - The Centenary gymnastics team placed fourth in a quad meet hosted by Texas Woman's University on Friday night. The meet featured some tough competition with Kentucky and Utah State participating, along with the Ladies and the host TWU Pioneers.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team is raring to go after waiting almost two weeks to compete. The Ladies have not seen head-to-head action since they hosted LSU in the Gold Dome back on March 2nd, but will make up for it by participating in a meet at Texas Woman's University on Friday and hosting a meet at home with Kentucky on Sunday.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team scored its highest team score of the season with a 193.125 on Sunday in the Gold Dome. The team is peaking at the right time with the Midwest Independent Championships just two meets away. However, their score was not enough to defeat the No. 8 LSU Tigers, who posted a team effort of 197.050.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team begins the back stretch of its season with four of its last five meets at home in the Gold Dome. The run of contests in its own back yard begins on Sunday when the Ladies welcome the 8th ranked LSU Tigers to town for a 2 p.m. battle.

SHREVEPORT - Centenary senior Meredith Smith has been named Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week for her efforts at Texas Woman's University last weekend. Smith was chosen by a panel of Sports Information Directors that represent each school in the conference (Centenary, Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, Southeast Missouri State, and Texas Woman's University).

DENTON, Texas - The Centenary gymnastics team has not competed in two weeks and will be rested when traveling to take on Texas Woman's University on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Pioneers are the #1 ranked team in the USA Gymnastics division, while the Ladies are the #3 ranked squad. The two will meet one more time in March of this season before battling it out for the USAG title in April.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Centenary gymnastics team continues to put up season-best scores meet after meet, but that does not always result in wins as the competition continues to get tougher and tougher as well. The Ladies lost to the 14th ranked Missouri Tigers on Friday 195.800 to 192.325.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team posted its best team score of the season on Friday night in the Gold Dome, but could not take down Illinois State. The Redbirds defeated the Ladies 192.775 to 191.825 with a strong showing on the balance beam.

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Centenary gymnastics team held the lead by a point and a half going into the final rotation against Illinois-Chicago, but several miscues on the event allowed the Flames to steal away the win 188.650 to 187.625 on Saturday.

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Centenary gymnastics team looks to push its season record to 3-0 when it battles fellow Midwest Independent Conference member Illinois-Chicago on Saturday at 5 p.m. The trip up north will end a three-meet road stretch to start the season as the Ladies will return home for their home-opener on February 1st.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Centenary gymnastics team completed its two-meet sweep of the Air Force Academy by defeating the Falcons 190.625 to 188.400 on Sunday afternoon. The Ladies had seven different performers grab a total of 11 top three finishes in the victory.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Centenary gymnastics team opened its season with a convincing 189.275 to 186.100 victory on the road against the Air Force Academy. The Ladies will be relying on their 10 underclassmen this season to contribute heavily, and the youngsters came through in a big way on Friday.

The Centenary Ladies gymnastics team recently competed in their final tune-up before finals and the upcoming holiday break. This was a great opportunity for the team to perform full routines and fight for a spot in the line-up. Head coach Bill Hardy is optimistic with the progress the team has shown to this point.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary gymnastics team again participated in what has become a yearly event for the Ladies, as they ran in the 2007 Shreveport-Bossier 5K Race for the Cure on Saturday. Running in bright pink shirts, the Ladies helped raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.

SHREVEPORT - The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches released its list of Scholastic All-Americans and four Centenary gymnasts were recognized with the honor. Jessie Angus, Mandy Bennett, Julia Cornelius, and Kristen Cox received the accolades for maintaining a grade point average above a 3.5 and achieving at least a sophomore standing.
