SHREVEPORT - Centenary volleyball coach Dan Gwitt has announced the signing of Brianna Kern out of Indianapolis, Ind. Kern's inking brings the Ladies roster to 13 players, with 12 of them being freshmen, as Gwitt continues to overhaul the program in his first full season at the helm.

SHREVEPORT - Centenary volleyball coach Dan Gwitt officially announced today that Kate Price has accepted the position of assistant volleyball coach for the Ladies program. Price, who won the NCAA Women's Volleyball National Championship this season with her teammates at Penn State, will begin her role at Centenary immediately.

Centenary women's volleyball head coach Dan Gwitt has announced that Brianne Anders, Taylor Gilmour, Christina Golden, Stevie Hurlbirt, Jennifer Kunze, Jaclyn Lopez, Kinsey Mims, Caitlin Neese, Melissa Reed, and Kayla Tibaldo will be members of the Ladies volleyball squad in the upcoming 2008-2009 season.

SHREVEPORT - Centenary head volleyball coach Dan Gwitt has announced that Erika Lunsford signed a National Letter of Intent in the early signing period to join the Ladies in 2008. Lunsford is the first signee for the new coach since being appointed to the position on November 19th.

FARGO, N.D. - The Centenary volleyball team wrapped up its season with a 3-0 loss (30-22, 30-14, 30-12) on the road at North Dakota State on Saturday. It was the final match of Lindsay Bekelja's career, the Ladies lone senior on the 2007 squad. Bekelja finished with 27 assists in her last performance in a Centenary uniform.

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State volleyball team defeated the Centenary Ladies 3-0 (30-26, 30-21, 30-24) on Friday evening. The Ladies played well in the loss, but came up short in the end.

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Centenary volleyball team travels to face Summit League newcomers South Dakota State and North Dakota State in its final weekend of play in the 2007 season. The Ladies square off against SDSU tonight at 5 p.m. before battling NDSU on Saturday at 7 p.m.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Centenary volleyball team dropped both its matches on its weekend road trip through Indiana, falling to IPFW 3-0 (30-16, 30-25, 30-17) on Friday and losing to IUPUI 3-1 (30-21, 25-30, 30-15, 30-17) on Saturday.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Centenary volleyball team will continue Summit League play tonight as they travel to face IPFW at 7 p.m. and IUPUI Saturday night at 7 p.m., as well.

SHREVEPORT - Centenary senior Lindsay Bekelja could not have hoped for a better going out gift than a convincing Summit League win in the final home match of her career. That is exactly what happened on Saturday evening in the Gold Dome as the Ladies volleyball team recorded its first conference victory of the season by overpowering UMKC 3-0 (30-23, 30-23, 30-22).

SHREVEPORT - The Western Illinois volleyball team improved its Summit League record to 8-3 with a 3-0 win over Centenary in the Gold Dome on Friday evening. The Westerwinds defeated the Ladies 30-11, 30-14, 30-13 while committing only five errors in the victory.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary volleyball team will host Western Illinois on Friday at 7 p.m. and UMKC on Saturday at 5 p.m. for its final home matches of the 2007 season. Saturday's pre-match events will feature a special presentation for senior Lindsay Bekelja.

SHREVEPORT - The Oral Roberts volleyball team regained a share of the Summit League lead with a 3-0 victory over Centenary on Sunday in the Gold Dome. The Golden Eagles dismissed the Ladies 30-19, 30-17, and 30-22 behind 17 kills from Janete Ferreira.

ROCHESTER, Mich.--The Centenary volleyball team received a boost on Friday evening as injured setter Lindsay Bekelja returned to the lineup. The senior contributed in a big way with 40 assists and 20 digs, but the Ladies could not pull the win, losing to Oakland 3-1 (28-30, 30-19, 30-19, 30-27).

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary volleyball team continues Summit League play with a split weekend set against Oakland and Oral Roberts. The Ladies travel to face Oakland in Rochester, Mich., on Friday at 7 p.m. before returning home to battle Oral Roberts in the Gold Dome on Sunday at 2 p.m.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary volleyball team ran into a buzz saw Saturday night at the Gold Dome in South Dakota State's Kristina Martin. Martin was unstoppable, gunning from all points on the court to finish with 21 kills without a single hitting error. The senior paced a Jackrabbits offense that hit .396 in defeating the Ladies 3-0 (30-16, 30-13, 30-21).

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary volleyball team suffered a setback on Friday evening when senior setter Lindsay Bekelja's ankle injury in the first game caused her to leave the contest. Without another true setter on the roster, the Ladies were no match for North Dakota State, losing the Summit League matchup 3-0 (30-16, 30-15, 30-11).

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary volleyball team stormed out of the gates to take an easy game one victory at home against Jackson State on Tuesday night. However, the Ladies could not hold the Tigers for long as JSU claimed the final three games for the 3-1 victory (24-30, 30-28, 30-27, 30-21).

MACOMB, Ill. - Centenary's Rebekah Hill enjoyed one of the best offensive matches of any Ladies player this season, pounding down 13 kills. However, the individual effort was not enough as the Maroon and White fell to Western Illinois 3-0 (30-15, 30-21, 30-25).

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary volleyball team takes to the road for two Summit League matches this weekend. The Ladies will try to find their winning ways against UMKC on Friday in Kansas City, Mo., before visiting Western Illinois in Macomb, Ill., on Saturday.

GRAMBLING, La. - The Centenary volleyball team lost two close games in its match at Grambling on Tuesday, falling 3-0 (30-28, 30-17, 31-29). With the win, the Tigers swept the season series over the Ladies 2-0.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary volleyball team fell 3-0 (30-18, 30-15, 30-24) to Summit League newcomer IPFW Saturday night in the Gold Dome. The Mastodons kept the Ladies from getting on track offensively by posting 10 blocks in the victory.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary volleyball team did not have an answer for the balanced offensive attack of IUPUI in Summit League volleyball action Friday night, falling to the Jaguars 3-0 (30-22, 30-18, 30-23) in the Gold Dome. The win ended a three-match losing skid for IUPUI.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary volleyball team has played only two Summit League matches through the first weeks of the conference season while most teams have already played four matches. This weekend the Ladies will get back into the normal swing of conference play by hosting both IUPUI and newcomer IPFW at the Gold Dome on Friday and Saturday.

TULSA, Okla. - The Centenary volleyball team dropped its second consecutive Summit League match with a 3-0 loss to Oral Roberts on the road Saturday. The Golden Eagles defeated the Ladies 30-19, 30-10, 30-19.

JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State volleyball team used its service game to defeat Centenary for the second time this season. The Tigers racked up 23 aces in their 3-1 victory (30-19, 30-26, 23-30, 30-20). The two teams will meet for a third and final time in Shreveport on October 9th.

CONWAY, Ark. - The Centenary volleyball team set a team block assists record and junior Ashlee Freeman posted a new individual mark for block assists in a single match, but it was not enough to capture a win Saturday morning. Arkansas State outlasted the Ladies in a tough 3-2 loss (30-12, 29-31, 30-21, 29-31, 15-7) to begin the second day of the Central Arkansas Tournament.

CONWAY, Ark. - The Centenary volleyball team wrapped up play in the Central Arkansas Tournament with a 3-1 (30-18, 26-30, 30-23, 30-20) loss to Tennessee-Martin on Saturday afternoon. Despite the loss, the Ladies showed signs of improvement and will look to carry that momentum over to their next match on Wednesday at Jackson State.

CONWAY, Ark. - After winning its afternoon match against Mississippi Valley State 3-2, the Centenary volleyball team fell in its nightcap to Central Arkansas 3-0 (30-18, 30-17, 30-11) at the UCA Tournament. With the win, the Sugar Bears improve to a perfect 9-0 on the season.

CONWAY, Ark. - The Centenary volleyball team grabbed its first win of the 2007 season by defeating Mississippi Valley State 3-2 in a lengthy five-game match. The victory came in the opening contest for the Ladies in the Central Arkansas Tournament by the scores of 25-30, 30-19, 30-28, 26-30, 15-12.

SHREVEPORT--The Centenary volleyball team will travel tomorrow to Conway, Arkansas, for a weekend tournament hosted by the University of Central Arkansas. On Friday the Ladies will be pitted against Mississippi Valley State at 1:30 p.m. and Central Arkansas at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's matches will feature Centenary against Arkansas State at 9 a.m. and Tennessee-Martin at 1 p.m.

The Ladies received an outstanding effort from senior Lindsay Bekelja and freshman Yvonne Ramirez who tallied 38 assists and 30 digs respectively.

RUSTON, La. - The Centenary volleyball team fell in both its matches on Friday at the Louisiana Tech Invitational to the host Lady Techsters and Southeastern Louisiana. The Ladies were bested by Louisiana Tech 3-0 (30-10, 30-17, 30-18) before losing to the Lions by the same 3-0 (30-12, 30-17, 30-26) score.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary volleyball team will make the one-hour trip east on I-20 to take part in the Louisiana Tech Invitational Friday and Saturday. The Ladies face the host Lady Techsters at 12 p.m. Friday before locking up with Southeastern Louisiana for a 3:30 p.m. match. The tournament will conclude on Saturday with either championship round play or a consolation match-up.

SHREVEPORT - New Centenary volleyball coach Patrick Maiden has announced Elise Sisson as his first signee since taking over the reigns of the Ladies program on July 10th. Sisson will be a part of the 2007 roster that reports to campus for the first day of practice on August 11th.

Maiden becomes the eighth coach of the Ladies in the 22-year history of the program and replaces Jenny Hazelwood who accepted the head coaching position at Austin Peay State University.
