FROM THE DESK OF...

Tom Tallach – Director of Athletics

Fall 2007

It is great to be back at Centenary and I am honored to be serving my alma mater (class of ’93) as Director of Athletics.  I arrived and moved into the office not long before the women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, and women’s soccer teams reported for pre-season practice.  Their regular season openers will be here before you know it.  Volleyball opens at the Texas A&M Tournament, women’s soccer kicks off at Arkansas State, and men’s soccer will travel to Central Arkansas.  I can assure you that the student-athletes, coaches, support staff, and administrators are working extremely hard and with tremendous enthusiasm to make proud all those who love Centenary.

With the 2007-08 school year rapidly approaching, we are pleased to welcome all of our new students, student-athletes (and parents), and friends to the Centenary family.  A notable change for this year is that the Mid-Continent Conference has changed it’s name to The Summit League and added new members South Dakota State, North Dakota State, and IPFW.  As a result, the level of competition has risen and our student-athletes are looking forward to the challenge.  Learn more about The Summit League by clicking the icon on our home page.

Looking ahead, Rob Flaska, men’s basketball coach, and Steve Curtis, women’s basketball coach, have built schedules that are packed with quality opponents.  They both have a number of key contributors returning and have had excellent recruiting years.  These factors should result in many exciting afternoons and evenings at the Gold Dome and CenturyTel Center this winter.

Intercollegiate athletics programs at all colleges and universities depend heavily upon support from boosters.  If you have not already done so, please join the C Club or renew your expired membership.  The C Club is the official booster organization of Centenary Athletics and has several enhancement projects in mind for the upcoming year.   Learn more about the C Club and access membership forms by following the links on this website or by simply calling me.

Again, I am very excited to be back and I am confident that our student-athletes will continue to represent Centenary well in 2007-08.

See you at the games!!!

Tom Tallach, Ed. D.
