SHREVEPORT -- On Sunday and Monday of this week the Centenary baseball team helped host and answer telephones for the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. The Gents helped raise more money than ever before in the Bossier City/Shreveport area.

All 30 members of the Centenary baseball team and Channel 6 KTAL took donations from the community during the two-day event at the Bossier City Bass Pro Shop. This was the third year the two programs met and helped to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy.

“This continues to be a great event for our kids to do,” said head baseball coach Ed McCann. “It helps to let the community know that Centenary is a big part of the Bossier/Shreveport area.”

The Gents will also take part in the ALS “Walk a Mile”, Northwest Angels and volunteer at the Shriners Children Hospital over the next several months. The baseball team will help with arts and crafts, along with talking to the children and signing autographs at Shriners.
