Central Arkansas Stays Perfect, Ladies Fall 3-0

CONWAY, Ark.—After winning its afternoon match against Mississippi Valley State 3-2, the Centenary volleyball team fell in its nightcap to Central Arkansas 3-0 (30-18, 30-17, 30-11) at the UCA Tournament. With the win, the Sugar Bears improve to a perfect 9-0 on the season.

 

Central Arkansas hit at a .230 attack percentage against the Ladies on the evening, led by Amicha Williams’ 10 kills. UCA committed only 12 hitting errors in 122 attempts compared to 33 errors on 128 attacks for Centenary. Robyn Smith dished out 28 assists in the win for the Sugar Bears while Kelly Bence compiled a match-high 20 digs.

 

Centenary (1-8) received seven kills from junior Danielle Bochat and four each from sophomore Christina Nichols and freshman Stephanie Hobaugh. Senior Lindsay Bekelja notched 18 assists in the loss for the Ladies while freshman Yvonne Ramirez (15), Bekelja (14), and Bochat (11) all reached double digit digs on the night.

 

The Ladies will receive a short rest and hit the court bright and early at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning for day two of the tournament. Centenary will tangle with Arkansas State first before wrapping up the event against Tennessee-Martin at 1 p.m.
