Ladies at Home on Friday Hit the Road on Sunday

SHREVEPORT – After a 1-2 record to start the season, the Centenary women’s soccer team looks to rebound today when it hosts Texas State at 7 p.m. On Sunday the Ladies will head east on I-20 to play Grambling State at 2 p.m. The Bobcats come into tonight’s contest 0-3, and have yet to score a goal. The Tigers are 2-1 in 2007, and play at Louisiana-Lafayette tonight.   


Centenary opened the 2007 season with a trip to Arkansas and Monroe, Louisiana, before playing its first home match of the regular season tonight. Thus far, sophomore Brittany O’Neal leads the Ladies with two goals, while classmate Stefanie Robbs has hit the back of the net once.


The Ladies defense has also stepped up this season, as they have allowed just over 1.5 goals a match and a .114 shot percentage. The Centenary offense has scored just over one goal a game, while earning a .125 shot percentage.


Texas State opened its season against WAC opponent Utah State, and then played a pair of Big 12 foes in Baylor and Texas Tech. The Bobcats were shut down by Baylor and Texas Tech by a combined score of 7-0.


Grambling in its last two games has won by a combined score of 8-1, including defeating Division II opponent Delta State 6-0. Against Monroe, the Tigers won 2-1, but lost to Dallas Baptist 3-2 in overtime to start the season.


After the trip to Grambling, the Ladies will host Northwestern State on Friday, Sept. 14, and Arkansas on Sunday, Sept. 16.
