ELMHURST, Ill. – For the second time in as many weeks a Centenary soccer student-athlete has been named Summit League Player of the Week. This time, junior forward Aaron Volanski received the conference’s weekly honor after scoring all four of the Gents goals last week.

In Wednesday’s contest against Belhaven, the Magnolia, Texas, native hit two second-half goals to lead the Gents to a 2-0 victory. Despite getting shutout on Friday at Western Kentucky, Volanski still had two shots on goal. On Sunday, the all-conference honoree was able to find his rhythm again, as he hit his second penalty kick of the season, and scored a goal late in the 5-2 loss to Marshall.

For the week, he tallied eight points (2.67 per game) and a .733 shots-on-goal percentage. Volanski currently leads the league with five goals on the season.

“Aaron has been good for us in front of the goal this year, and if he finished better he would have 10 goals already,” said head coach Eric Mayo. “I hope he continues this kind of play during conference action. He’s been a good leader, he shows the youngsters how it’s done on the collegiate level.”

The Gents will be in action on Thursday at nationally ranked Southern Methodist and will host IUPUI for the conference opener on Sunday at 1 p.m.
