SHREVEPORT—The Centenary volleyball team looks to gain momentum coming off of its five-game loss to Oakland last week in its Summit League opener. The Ladies will travel to Oral Roberts on Saturday to battle the Golden Eagles at 7 p.m. before returning home for a pair of contests next weekend.

Centenary (1-12, 0-1) hung with Oakland last week to the very end led by freshman Stephanie Hobaugh and senior Lindsay Bekelja. Hobaugh tallied a double double with 16 kills and 18 digs while Bekelja also accomplished the feat behind 47 assists and 21 digs. Several other Ladies enjoyed an excellent match on the evening, including Ashlee Freeman (15 kills), Christina Nichols (14 kills), Danielle Bochat (15 digs), and Yvonne Ramirez (20 digs).

On the season, Freeman continues to pace the Centenary offense with a team-best 139 kills. Hobaugh is closing the gap as she has stepped up her offensive production of late and trails only by 19 kills (120 total). As expected, Bekelja leads the team with 400 asissts and Ramirez is tops in digs at 170 from her libero position.

Oral Roberts (6-6, 1-0) is coming off of a 3-1 loss to cross-town rival Tulsa University on Tuesday. However, the Golden Eagles did kick off their Summit League season last weekend with a 3-0 victory over Oakland. In that match, ORU’s Jackie Oliveira led all players with 18 kills. Oliveira also leads the team on the season with 218 kills.
