Ladies Fair Well at Monroe Tournament

MONROE, La. – Sophomore Jessica Garza (76-78-81, 235) was 19 over par in the Louisiana-Monroe Fred Marx Invitational, which helped lead the Centenary women’s golf team to finish 14th. The Ladies shot a 975 (316-320-339), which was 58 strokes behind Arkansas State (310-298-309), who won with 917.

Garza was 14 strokes behind the winner, Elin Andersson (75-74-72) of South Alabama, who won with a 221. Sophomore Leigh Newton (81-78-84), who finished tied for 52nd after shooting a three-round total of 243.

Senior Chloe Mims (76-82-87, 245) was tied for 57th, after finishing just two strokes behind Newton, while sophomore Brittany Blackwell (83-83-87) closed out the tournament 71st, shooting a 253.

Sophomore Bethany Cox (96-82-90) was in 82nd place after completing the tournament with a 268.

The Ladies next action will be on Oct. 1 when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to play in the ORU shootout.
