SHREVEPORT—The Centenary volleyball team has played only two Summit League matches through the first weeks of the conference season while most teams have already played four matches. This weekend the Ladies will get back into the normal swing of conference play by hosting both IUPUI and newcomer IPFW at the Gold Dome on Friday and Saturday.

Centenary (1-13, 0-2 Summit) is coming off of a loss last Saturday at Oral Roberts. The Golden Eagles defeated the Ladies in three games to hand the Maroon and White its second Summit League loss in as many attempts. Sophomore Rebekah Hill proved to be Centenary’s top offensive threat in the loss, pounding down five kills on 12 attempts with just one error.

On the season, junior Ashlee Freeman is leading the club with 144 kills for an average of 2.77 kills per game. As a team, the Ladies are hitting at a .073 percentage. Senior Lindsay Bekelja’s 418 assists are tops on the team, as are Yvonne Ramirez’s 180 digs.

IUPUI (8-9, 1-3 Summit) has dropped three of its first four conference matches. The Jaguars fell to Western Illinois in five games before besting UMKC 3-1. A trip through the Dakotas resulted in a pair of losses, the first to North Dakota State. South Dakota State then rallied down two games to knock off IUPUI in five games. Devika Bellamy’s 231 kills, Danielle Goodnight’s 628 assists, and Chelsea Bastin’s 241 digs are all team highs.

IPFW (8-6, 2-2 Summit) comes to Shreveport for the first time since the Mastodons joined The Summit League last summer. After losing its first two league contests to North Dakota State and South Dakota State, IPFW bounced back to defeat NDSU in four games and Oakland in five games last weekend. Jessica Miller is the top offensive gun with 171 kills and Peachy Jankowski paces the defense with 258 digs.

Both matches begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday respectively. Fans can follow all of the action via the Live Stats link on the official Centenary athletics website, GoCentenary.com.
