SHREVEPORT – After playing great soccer to start the season, the Centenary women’s soccer team hopes to snap its four-game skid on Friday, as it hosts Nicholls State at 7 p.m. The Ladies look to keep their nine-match winning streak up over the Colonels, which includes Centenary defeating Nicholls in three straight seasons.

Sophomore Brittany O’Neal continues to lead the Ladies with four goals, while fellow classmate Stefani Robbs is second with two. Senior keeper Ali Hilsher has allowed just 14 goals this season, and has saved 49 shots. The Tulsa, Okla., native has 291 career saves, which now puts her 76 behind second place on the all-time Centenary list.

The Colonels come into Friday night’s battle on a seven match losing streak, after starting the 2007 season 1-1-2. Nicholls is led offensively by Kaity Mattsson, who has scored three goals, while Molly Mersereau has made 95 saves, but has allowed over two and half goals per game.

On Sunday, Centenary opens Summit League play at Oral Roberts (4-4-1). The Golden Eagles come into the match with a bit of momentum after defeating crosstown rival Tulsa, 1-0. ORU is led by Shakira Duncan, who has scored seven goals, while Stef Gurley is leading the defense with 66 saves and three shutouts.

The Golden Eagles are 0-0-1 in conference play, after they tied Southern Utah on Sept. 21, 2-2.

After Sunday’s match, the Ladies will play again at home on Wednesday, Oct. 3, when they host Southern Utah at 7 p.m. Centenary will then return to the road for three conference matches before coming back to Mayo Field on Oct. 18.
