Ladies Golf has Strong First Round

TULSA, Okla. – After shooting a first round 326 on Monday, the Centenary women’s golf team is just a few strokes from getting back into the thick of the Oral Roberts Shootout. The Ladies are just 13 strokes from a top five finish, and just 21 behind first place Texas A&M-Corpus-Christi, who shot a 305.   

 

Pacing the Centenary golf contingency is sophomore Jessica Garza, who shot a five over par (36-41, 77) and is in a tie for 11th. Behind Garza is junior Chloe Mims, who is tied for 33rd after shooting a first round 81 (41-40).

 

Sitting just two strokes behind Mims is sophomore Brittany Blackwell, who is tied for 54th after shooting a 41 on the front nine and a 42 after making the turn. Sophomore’s Bethany Cox shot an 85 for the first round (44-41), while Leigh Newton is 71st after shooting an 88 (42-46).

 

The final round begins on Tuesday morning.
