Friday, October 12, 2007

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – On a chilly Indiana night, the warm blooded Centenary (4-9-1, 0-3-1) women’s soccer team could not over come a late first half goal by IPFW (1-12-1, 1-3-1), falling in a 1-0 heartbreaker on Friday.

The Ladies put offensive pressure on the Mastodons, as Centenary had 20 shots and five that landed on goal. However, IPFW had 12 shots with six landing in Ali Hilsher’s hands.

Sophomore Brittany Brooke O’Neal led the offensive charge for the Ladies, as she had five shots and two landing on goal. Classmates Stefani Robbs and Lauren Cheaney each had three shots with one hitting the goalkeeper, Malinda Holmer.

The IPFW’s goal was scored by Danielle Orlandella, who beat Hilsher from six yards out, after being fed from Heather Currie.

Centenary’s next action will be on Sunday against IUPUI at 1 p.m., which will end the three match road trip for the Ladies. The next home match for the Ladies will be on Thursday, Oct. 18, against Mississippi Valley State at 4 p.m.
