Grizzlies Down Gents Soccer on Saturday

SHREVEPORT – Statistically on Saturday afternoon the match was even, however Oakland (6-4-2, 3-0-0) scored twice in each half to defeat the Centenary (2-9-0, 1-2-0) men’s soccer team 4-0 in Summit League play.

 

The offensive charge for Centenary was led by freshman Josh Gomillion, who had a team-high three shots and one that landed on goal. Junior defender Will Todd finished second on the team with two shots.

 

For Oakland, Michael Reyes scored two goals and gave an assist, netting goals early in the first half and late in the second. The Gents defense allowed the Grizzlies to get 12 shots with seven landing on goal, while Centenary had 10 shots and two that hit the keeper. 

 

Centenary goalkeeper James Speed made two saves on the day, while Oakland’s stopper Steve Clark made two.

 

Centenary will play its last home match of 2007 on Friday when it hosts Oral Roberts at 7 p.m. with ‘Senior Day’ festivities being held prior to the match.
