Centenary Volleyball Travels to Face IPFW and IUPUI

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The Centenary volleyball team will continue Summit League play tonight as they travel to face IPFW at 7 p.m. and IUPUI Saturday night at 7 p.m., as well.

 

These two matches will be two of the last four on the road for the Ladies as they approach the end of the 2007 season.  

 

Centenary (2-24, 1-11 Summit) is coming off its first Summit League win of the season against UMKC and the Ladies are looking to carry last week’s momentum into these two road matches.

 

Coming into the weekend, junior Ashlee Freeman leads the Ladies offensively with 246 kills on the season, followed by freshman teammate Stephanie Hobaugh with 220. Along with Freeman and Hobaugh, the Ladies offensive attack is powered and fueled by senior Lindsey Bekelja, leading the Centenary team with 743 assists on the season. Freshman Yvonne Ramirez anchors the defense with 340 digs, while Freeman also leads in total blocks with 61 on the season.

 

IPFW (16-9, 9-3 Summit) has continued its impressive 2007 season with a 10-0 record at home coming into this match, winning its last seven out of eight matches with its only loss coming to Xavier in five sets.  The Mastodons defeated the Ladies earlier this season 3-0 in Summit League play. IPFW is led offensively by Jessica Miller with 330 kills and Jessica Dominiak with a striking 896 assists on the season. Peachy Jankowski anchors the defense with 493 digs, while Taryn Parker leads with 69 blocks and Rebekah Roehm is not far behind with 60 blocks.

 

IUPUI (10-16, 3-9 Summit) has lost 10 out of its last 12 matches, but took a 3-0 win over Centenary earlier this season in Shreveport. The Jaguars are led on offense by Devika Bellamy with 354 kills and Danielle Goodnight with an incredible 921 assists on the season. Leading defensively for IUPUI is Chelsea Bastin with 414 digs and teammate Ashley Johnson with 93 total blocks.
