Gents Bested by Delta State, Alabama

CLEVELAND, Miss.—The Centenary men’s swim team came up short against Delta State and Alabama on Saturday. The Gents lost 76-62 to the host Delta State team and dropped its dual meet with Alabama 91-44.

 

Wladmir Montoya was the only Centenary individual swimmer to earn a first place finish on the day. The sophomore posted a time of 51.84 in the 100-yard butterfly. The Gents did have another top finish as the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Chase Lambert, Montoya, Dustin Myers, and Bryan Myers took its event with an effort of 1:26.30.

 

Bryan Myers enjoyed several successful swims, placing third in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.29) and the 100-yard butterfly (54.63). John Cefalu was second in the 200-yard IM (2:01.14) while Ross Gilbert (4:57.46) and Josh Pena (5:07.76) secured second and third place respectively in the 500-yard freestyle.   

 

Lambert grabbed second place in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.09 and Quinn Larwood and Aaron Otto landed in third place in their events. Larwood’s top-three effort came in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:13.91) while Otto’s triumph came in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.47).

 

The Gents return to action after a two-month break when they host TCU at the Centenary Swimming Complex at 2 p.m. on January 19.
