Gents Crack Top 100 in College Basketball RPI
Friday, December 7, 2007

SHREVEPORT—The Centenary men’s basketball team moved into the top 100 in both the (93) and the (85) College Basketball Ratings Percentage Indexes (RPI) this week. The Gents are the highest rated Summit League team in both polls.

Centenary’s wins over Texas Tech and SMU have helped the Gents, especially since wins over their opponents put Centenary in a better position as well. Texas Tech defeated highly-touted Gonzaga earlier in the season and SMU bounced back to beat TCU. The Gents (6-3) three losses are to two Big 12 schools in Baylor and Iowa State and UALR, who is currently 6-1 on the season.

“To have a high RPI says a lot about the toughness of our schedule and that we are getting some tough non-conference quality wins,” said Centenary head coach Rob Flaska.

There are 341 Division I basketball playing schools that are ranked in the RPI.

Centenary opened Summit League play with a win over South Dakota State on Thursday in the Gold Dome. The Gents will host North Dakota State on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
