LAFAYETTE, La.—The Centenary men’s tennis team competed in its only event of the fall at the Louisiana-Lafayette Tournament. Junior Seva Kostelanetz won the consolation draw, winning three straight matches after dropping his opening round match.

Kostelanetz fell to Tyler Cobb of Lamar in the tournament opener 6-1, 6-4, but bounced back to knock off German Castillo of Alcorn State 7-5, 6-2, despite losing the first three games of the match.

Kostelanetz then drew teammate Jacob Dawson in the next round and again started slowly, losing the first set 6-2. He pulled it together and roared back to win the second set 6-0 and closed out the match with a 10-8 win in the final set.

In the consolation final, Kostelanetz had to grind out a tough 7-5 win in the first set over Devin Harley of Lamar, but he breezed to the title with a 6-1 second set for the sweep.

Gerry Lozano pulled off Centenary’s only other win with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Gordon Reaux of Alcorn State.

In doubles action, the team of Mark Rodgman and Jacob Dawson pulled out a 9-8 (5-0) win over Cobb and Harley of Lamar.

The Gents will open the spring portion of their schedule on February 2nd against Texas-Pan American at Stephen F. Austin (Nacogdoches, Texas).
