CHICAGO, Ill.—The Centenary gymnastics team looks to push its season record to 3-0 when it battles fellow Midwest Independent Conference member Illinois-Chicago on Saturday at 5 p.m. The trip up north will end a three-meet road stretch to start the season as the Ladies will return home for their home-opener on February 1st.

Centenary (2-0) began the season in style by taking back-to-back meets from the Air Force Academy last weekend. The Ladies are averaging a combined score of 189.950 thus far and have a season-high of 190.625.

Youngsters Marisa Schneider and Laura Loy are off to a fine start with both capturing a number of first and second place individual finishes against Air Force. Schneider received a nomination for MIC Gymnast of the Week for her efforts in her first collegiate meets.

Senior Meredith Smith and sophomore Courtney Hawkins were also solid in their first outings of the 2008 season. Smith took first place on the vault Sunday with a 9.750 while Hawkins scored a 9.850 for the top score on the event Friday.

Illinois-Chicago (0-2) has dropped its first two meets to stiff competition. The Flames were bested by Florida on Jan. 11 and dropped their contest with Western Michigan last weekend. UIC is averaging a team score of 189.225.

Annie Kachman leads the way for the Flames as she was named the MIC Gymnast of the Week last week. She scored individual titles in the all-around (38.650), the vault (9.800), and the floor (9.750) against Western Michigan.
