Ladies Finish 15th in Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Senior Chloe Mims (79-75-77, 231) led the way for the Centenary women’s golf team at the Koasati Pines Collegiate with a 15 over par, but it wasn’t enough, as the Ladies (1,003) finished 15th. Centenary was just 83 strokes behind Florida International, who won with a 920.   


Mims completed the three-round event in 13th, which was just nine strokes behind the individual winner, Christina Martin from Florida International, who shot a 222. Behind Mims from Centenary was sophomore Jessica Garza (86-76-79, 241), who was tied for 39th.


Garza’s classmate, Leigh Newton (86-84-87, 257) tied for 69th, while fellow sophomores Bethany Cox (89-91-99, 279) and Brittany Blackwell (93-97-94, 284) finished 81st and 82nd respectively.


The Ladies next action will be Feb. 23-24 when they host the Centenary College Ladies Invitational at Olde Oaks.
