Berthelot Leads Gents Golf in First Round

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Centenary freshman Greg Berthlot was four over par on Monday in the first round of the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by Southern Utah. As a team, the Gents (312) were in 16th place and just 34 strokes behind first place Louisiana-Monroe, who shot a 278.


Berthelot (41-35, 76) on his front nine shot a 41, but after making the turn he cut six strokes off his score to put him a tie for 64th. Sophomore Nick Faitz (41-37) was not far behind Berthelot, as Faitz shot a first round 78.


Sophomore Mark Webber (41-37) was tied with Faitz for 82nd, while freshman Ryan Sparks (38-42) was 12 over and tied for 94th. Rounding out the Centenary golfers was freshman Diego Martin-Perez, who was tied for 110th after day-one.


The Gents will conclude the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational on Monday.
