Gents Look for Sweep Against IUPUI
Wednesday, February 13, 2008

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The Centenary men’s basketball team embarks on yet another important Summit League road trip, as they all are towards the end of the season, this weekend when it travels to take on IUPUI on Thursday at 7 p.m. (Eastern). The Gents would be in a tie for the seventh seed in the conference tournament if the season ended today, but can still make a push towards a higher draw.

Centenary (9-15, 3-9 Summit) looks to turn around its recent misfortunes, but will have to do so against one of the best teams in the league. The Gents did discard IUPUI in the Gold Dome back in January, but Centenary has never defeated the Jaguars in Indianapolis in four tries.

IUPUI (19-5, 11-2) has only dropped two Summit League games, one to Centenary and one to undefeated Oral Roberts, and is a perfect 12-0 at home this season. The Jaguars are ranked at #21 in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll.

George Hill, who the Gents held to just 14 points in their win over the Jaguars, is the current Summit League Player of the Week. He averaged 28.5 points over a pair of wins at South Dakota State and North Dakota State last week. He is scoring 21.2 points per game on the season.

Tyrone Hamilton continues to lead Centenary in scoring at 16.5 points per game, while Nick Stallings (15.2) and Lance Hill (12) are also contributing significantly to the offense.

IUPUI holds the all-time series lead at 7-2 over the Gents.

The game can be heard locally in the Shreveport-Bossier area on the radio at KSCL 91.3 FM and over the internet at www.GoCentenary.com.
