ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Centenary men’s and women’s swimming teams swam well on the first day of competition Thursday at The Summit League Championships. The Gents are currently standing in second, while the women are in third and trailing Western Illinois for second place by just 18 points.

The men are being led by five second team all-conference honorees, sophomore Jon Cefalu, seniors Adam D’Aquin, Kyle McKee and Dustin Myers along with junior Bryan Myers. Centenary is trying to hold off a strong first-day performance by third place Western Illinois, who trails by just seven points.

On the women’s side, sophomore Leslie Wyatt (2:09.85) broke the school record in the 200 IM. Fellow classmate Maggie Vaughan was the only Centenary Lady to be named on the all-conference team, as she took home second team accolades.

The championships continue tomorrow with preliminaries starting at 11:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m.
