Ladies to Face Texas Woman's in USAG Bout

DENTON, Texas—The Centenary gymnastics team has not competed in two weeks and will be rested when traveling to take on Texas Woman’s University on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Pioneers are the #1 ranked team in the USA Gymnastics division, while the Ladies are the #3 ranked squad. The two will meet one more time in March of this season before battling it out for the USAG title in April.


Centenary has seen its team performance continue to improve throughout the season. The Ladies set season-highs for team scores in each of the last three meets, including a best of 192.575 two weeks ago at Southeast Missouri State.


Marisa Schneider leads the Ladies on the floor exercise and is ranked second in the USAG on the exercise right behind Amie Boles of TWU. Centenary’s Laura Loy is the top-ranked beam performer in the division, but Courtney Arno-Templet is tops on the bars for the Pioneers.


Texas Woman’s University posted a score of 191.875 the last time out in a victory over West Chester, Southern Connecticut, and Bridgeport. The Pioneers team regional qualifying average score is 191.885 compared to Centenary’s 190.335.
