Gents End Home Schedule with UMKC for Homecoming
Friday, February 22, 2008

SHREVEPORT—The Centenary men’s basketball team will wrap up the home portion of its 2007-08 season with a homecoming match-up with UMKC on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.. The Kangaroos are just one game in front of the Gents with three games left in the Summit League schedule. A Centenary win would move them in front of UMKC as the Gents would then hold the tiebreaker.

Centenary (9-18, 3-12 Summit) is coming off its second consecutive loss of less than four points after falling to Southern Utah, 98-94, on Thursday. Nick Stallings had a career night, converting on 13-of-18 shot attempts, draining five 3-pointers, and scoring 35 points. The Gents shot over 60 percent for the game, but could not stop the Thunderbird offense.

Junior Tyrone Hamilton scored 21 points last game and now has 1,222 career points in a Gents uniform. He currently sits 19th on the all-time list, but can move up to 15th place with just 33 more points.

UMKC (9-19, 4-11 Summit) comes to town after losing to Oral Roberts on Thursday, 72-64. The Kangaroos have lost five of their last six games and are just 1-13 on the road this season. Dane Brumagin leads the scoring charge, averaging 17.3 points per game.

UMKC defeated the Gents 76-73 in Kansas City in January. The Kangaroos hold the all-time series advantage over the Gents 7-3, but are just 2-2 in Shreveport.

The game can be heard on the radio in the local area on KSCL 91.3 FM and over the internet at www.GoCentenary.com.
