Ladies Have Strong First Round

SHREVEPORT – Led by senior Chloe Mims (37-42, 79), the Centenary women’s golf team had a great first round at the Centenary College Ladies Invitational on Saturday. The Ladies (334) are just four strokes behind first place North Dakota State, who shot a 330.


Mims is in third place and is just two strokes off the leader from Houston Baptist, Lacey Humphrey (40-37, 77), who shot a +5. Sophomore Leigh Newton (39-44, 83) is the next Ladies golfer and she tied for eighth after shooting an 11 over par.


Alone in 11th place is sophomore Tracy Williams (46-39, 87), while her classmate Jessica Garza (46-41, 87) sits in 13th with a +15. Another sophomore, Bethany Cox (47-40, 87), who is playing unattached is tied with Garza for 13th.


The final round will start tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Olde Oaks Golf Course.
