SHREVEPORT – After an outstanding weekend series against Northern Iowa, the Centenary baseball team will take the field on Wednesday when it hosts Texas College for a doubleheader at 4 p.m.

Centenary used batting and pitching to take three wins from NIU, as it hit .283 and had a lights out 3.18 ERA. Senior Teddy Saenz led the team with a .500 batting average, while opening day starter Dakota Robinson had 0.00 ERA in seven innings of work.

Over the weekend, Saenz went 6-for-12 in the four-game series with a triple, a home run, four runs scored and four RBIs. Dating back to last season, the San Jose, Calif., native has hit safely in seven straight games. For his performance at the plate, Sanez earned The Summit League’s Hitter of the Week award.

This season, Texas College has been struggling with an 0-14 record, but are led by Erran Blackmon, who is hitting .385. The Steers top pitcher is James Mullenax, who in five games has a team-best 6.17 ERA.

After the game on Wednesday, Centenary will have a week off before it travels to Northwestern State for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch.
