Ladies Host Tech in Home Opener

SHREVEPORT—The Centenary softball team will finally get to play a game on its home field when it hosts Louisiana Tech on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The Ladies have played their first 18 games away from the Centenary Softball Complex over almost the entire first month of the season.

Centenary (5-13) is past the daunting portion of its schedule in which it played the majority of its first 16 games against teams from the Big 12, SEC, Big Ten, Big East, and Conference USA. The Ladies have now won three in a row and are 3-0 against Louisiana schools this year.

Centenary took the first meeting this season against Louisiana Tech with a 3-0 victory in Ruston last week. Sophomore pitcher Ryan Thacker hurled a complete game shutout, while allowing just three hits in the triumph.

Louisiana Tech (7-7) comes to Shreveport after a disappointing split with Alcorn State on Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Techsters dropped the first game of the doubleheader with the Lady Braves, 3-1, before bouncing back for an 11-2 game two win.
