Ladies Softball Looks to Extend Streak to Six

SHREVEPORT—The Centenary softball team is currently riding a four-game win streak and looks to extend their surge to six when it hosts Grambling in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 5 p.m.. The Ladies swept a two-game set from the Tigers last week.

Centenary (6-13) has come on strong of late after weathering the extremely difficult portion of their schedule to start the season. Back-to-back Summit League Pitcher of the Week award winner, Ryan Thacker, has won her last four decisions and has tossed 13 consecutive scoreless innings for the Ladies.

At the plate, Allison Shepperd leads the team with a lofty .459 batting average. That number would place her second in The Summit League, but she is one at bat short of qualifying.

Freshman Caitlin Cavarra has enjoyed a great start to her debut season, hitting .286 with a team-best 18 hits. Sophomore catcher Haley Bassett is also batting .286 to go with a team-high nine walks.

Grambling comes into Wednesday’s twin bill with a 4-14 mark on the season. The Ladies discarded the Tigers 2-1 and 5-1 last week.
