SHREVEPORT—Hosting its first home match of the season on its newly resurfaced courts, the Centenary men’s tennis team took a loss to Lamar University on Wednesday evening. The visiting Cardinals downed the Gents 7-0.

Centenary’s top individual player, Mark Rodgman, gave Lamar’s No. 1 player, Filip Kanczula all he could handle. Yet, in the end, Rodgman fell 7-5, 6-2 in what would be the hottest contested individual match of the day.

Alejandro Ahuja lost 6-2, 6-4 in the second slot and Jacob Dawson fell 6-4, 6-1 in the third flight.

In doubles action, the Gents top tandem of Rodgman and Dawson put up a spirited fight against the 25th-ranked team from Lamar of Kanczula and Maciej Bogusz before losing 8-5. Centenary’s duo of Ahuja and Seva Kostelanetz lost in the third flight 8-2.

The Gents return to action on March 9th with a pair of road matches at Southeastern Louisiana and LSU.
