Gents Return Home on Friday

SHREVEPORT – After playing on the road on Tuesday, the Centenary baseball team returns home on Friday at 6 p.m. for four-game, three-day series with Horizon League foe UW-Milwaukee. The Gents are an outstanding 5-1 at home, while the Panthers are 0-5 away from chilly Milwaukee.


Centenary (5-2) has won three straight at Shehee Stadium and have combined to outscore its opponents 28-6 in that span. UWM (1-6), meanwhile, has lost four straight and have been outscored 26-10 in those four losses.


Senior first basemen Cameron Penney leads the Gents with .368 batting average, while the young aces of the pitching staff, sophomore Dakota Robinson and freshman Justin Kraft are a combined 4-0 in five appearances and have struck out 23 in 19 innings of work.


The Panthers are struggling during the early goings, as they have a .223 batting average, while the pitching staff has a 7.04 ERA. The offense is led by Josh Groves, who is batting .375 with two home runs, two doubles and seven RBIs, while starting pitcher Craig Meier has a 3.95 ERA.


After this weekend, Centenary will play a series at Texas A&M starting on Tuesday, March 11, with first pitch at 7 p.m.
